Start With The Low Hanging Anchor Text
Posted by admin in Link Building
It’s always beneficial to your site to have the anchor text (the visible, clickable text in a hyperlink) of a link vary among the links. To get outside sites to change the anchor text of your links on their site is often difficult if possible at all. So why not start with the low hanging fruit?
Your Site
While you do want to have some consistency in your navigation menus across the top or on the left of your site, you could use different anchor text on the menu in the footer of your site. You can also use different anchor text when you list top stories, or when you refer to other sections of your site within actual content articles. Don’t discount the value of the links within your site. they are part of the site ranking equation as well.
Your Blog
If your blog is set up as a separate domain or even as a sub domain, you have a great opportunity to vary your anchor text. If you use Wordpress and the Wordpress plugin Google XML Sitemaps your updated site map will be sent automatically to the search engines every time you post with each post as a separate page. So each page will have a set of links that can have varying anchor text.
You can also request that friendly blogs that link to yours use your requested anchor text.
Directory Listings
Directories, whether they are web site directories or article directories offer a great chance to vary your anchor text. Many of the web directories require that your link be your url, but there are some where you can use different anchor text. Article directories allow you to use links in your articles so you can easily vary the anchor text there.
From here you can work with the outside sites that have given you natural links. You’d be suprised how accomodating some people will be, others not so much. But hey every little bit helps.

ehh… cognitively.
I really liked this post. Can I copy it to my site? Thank you in advance.
